Church and Kids

I asked Everett what he learned at church in nursery and he said "I learned that ghosts tell us things and they are always here" I thought it was funny becuase it sounded so creepy when put that way. Of course he was talking about the holy ghost giving us promptings and being near to help us but still funny.
I always ask Avery what he learned about and he always said "I don't know" but a few days later he will ask something to show he did learn something. This last time he asked me in the car "mom will I get a second chance like Jonah?" I said "yes why?" He said becuase "when the church got taken from the earth everyone was bad and I must have been bad too" I explained that he was still in heaven when the people on the earth were bad and the church was taken away. He felt relieved that he wasn't that bad and that when he is bad he will get a second chance to make it right.
I am glad I get second chances too :) I am also glad that ghosts tell you things and are always here. :)

Love at home.....I was going to be a great mom :)

Today we sang "love at home" in church and it got me thinking about my life. I have always loved loved kids. I was the best babysitter and dreamed of the day I would have kids of my own. I have looked forward to this stage in my life since I was a little girl. I don't mean to brag but I always thought I would be a good mom I had all these plans about how my life would be and how my family and home would run. I thought I would be loving and patient almost all the time. I thought that with job charts and teaching a good work ethic I would have a clean house. I thought I would be so devoted to family home evening and teaching the scriptures that my kids would be so smart and ready to be missionaries. Family dinner would be a nice bonding time and a creater of great childhood memories. To make a long story short I wish I was half the mom and house wife I thought I would be. My house is a few steps short of a dissaster most the time. I struggle to get my kids to pay attention during family home evening. I can not get them to stop fighting with each other. Family dinner is usually run by reminders to stay in their chair, use their fork, chew with their mouth closed. Contention seems to always be creeping and lurking.
I have a firm testimony that our heavenly father wants us to be in a family and that we are to raise these little ones to return to him and make good choices. I know I am doing WHAT he want me to do (have a family and kids) but man I sure don't know HOW to do it. I am trying my best but I feel like a failure.
I am mostly sending this out into the void to vent my frustration. But also if any of you great moms out there have advise of what works in your house and with your kids please share. I know that these kids are the most important thing I will ever do in this life and I want to do it right. I want to have "love at home" :) but instead I feel "contention at home" more often than I want.

So what I am still a rock star

So Avery and Everett love music and we have the radio on all the time. The new Pink song "so what" is on quite a bit and they like the beat of it and dance to it. I didn't realize they listened to the words till one day we were in the car and they boys were arguing back and forth about something I don't think even they realy knew. Yes it is....no it is not....yes it is...no its not...over and over until finally Everett who is 2 1/2 says to Avery "so what I am still a rock star" I thought it was so funny. And more funny still was right then that song came on. Funny boys.

Also their great wonderful aunt Callie made them some super hero caps for christmas and they love them. The wear them all over the house and the other day Everett went and got a head band and put it over his eyes and hooked it on his ears and ran around saying look I am a super hero. I will have to ask him to do it again so I can get a picture. It was so funny and cute.

Boys

Today I was at the book table and I saw one of those wall vinyl letting kits that said "Boys n: a noise with dirt on it" I thought it was pretty funny. I want to get it for my boys room.
